Hannah Harlow worked in publishing for nearly 20 years, first at Houghton Mifflin, then Harcourt, then Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She held every position in the marketing department, from Marketing Assistant through Executive Director of Marketing. In January 2020, she bought The Book Shop of Beverly Farms in Beverly, MA, which she co-owns and operates with her brother. Together they have also started a micro-publisher, Industry Books, which publishes books of local interest to the North Shore of Massachusetts, as well as works of social justice and nontraditional voices.
In 2007 she received her MFA in fiction from the Bennington Writing Seminars. Her short stories have been published in Wisconsin Review, The Jabberwock Review, Vol. One Brooklyn, and elsewhere. Her short story, “The Farmers’ Market,” originally published in Smokelong Quarterly, was selected for The Best Small Fictions 2017. Since the beginning of 2021, Hannah has been writing a monthly book column for The Manchester Cricket. She is currently at work on a novel.
